Highlights of Normandy

Blessed with dramatic coastal landscapes, quaint villages, picturesque ports,
classic half-timbered buildings and fabulous food. The legacy of the region's
epic history, from the Norman invasion of England in 1066 to the D-Day
Landings of 1944, has left its mark. This tour will give you an introduction to the
very best of Normandy. Our hotel is in the pretty pilgrimage town of Lisieux.

Your Itinerary

Wednesday 27th: Morning departure to Dover for a Channel crossing to Calais. On arrival
in France we continue our journey arriving in Lisieux early evening.

Thursday 28th: After breakfast today we travel to Rouen, Normandy’s culture, historic,
gastronomic and vibrant capital. Monet’s canvases of the cathedral have made it one of the
best-loved buildings in the town, but many other glories stand out, including fine museums
and the church dedicated to visitor Joan of Arc.

Friday 29th: We visit Bayeux - explore beautifully conserved timber-framed buildings and
Bayeux Cathedral, a remarkable example of Norman architecture. We continue to
Arromanches a lovely seaside town, time will be given to visit the D-Day Museum and the
Arromanches 360 Theatre. We follow the coast of the famous Gold, Juno and Sword
Beaches arriving to the Atlantic Wall Museum (Le Grande Bunker). We complete the day
with a visit to Pegasus Bridge & Museum.

Saturday 30th: We visit Honfleur, on the Seine’s estuary. Honfleur’s beauty has long
attracted artists whose works can be seen in the town museums and the modern galleries
that abound. The picturesque town is perfect for exploring with many attractions to choose
from, starting with the old dock in the heart of the port, surrounded by its distinctive high,
narrow, timber-framed and slate-clad houses. We continue to the resort of Deauville, with its
grand promenade, glamorous casinos, couture shops.

Sunday 1st: We return home after breakfast via a Hypermarket in Calais (Time permitting).
