Lake District Turkey & Tinsel

Lake District Turkey & Tinsel
Enjoy a delightful break based in the Cumbrian town of Grange-Over-Sands, known as “the Gateway to the Lake District”. The advent of the Furness Railway transformed the once small fishing village into a very fashionable and
popular Victorian/Edwardian resort set between the Lake District Fells and Morecambe Bay.

Your Itinerary

Monday 23rd: We travel north via Southport leaving after time for lunch to the Lake District with time to enjoy the hotel’s facilities. Before dinner a glass of pre-dinner bubbly or sherry will be served and after dinner enjoy your first evening’s entertainment.

Tuesday 24th: It’s a leisurely day today starting with a coach transfer into Grange-Over-Sands this morning and an afternoon excursion via Newby Bridge to Ulverston. Take time here to explore the cobbled streets, speciality shops or pop in for a coffee at one of the friendly cafes. Ulverston is the birthplace of Stan Laurel and is home to the worlds only Laurel and Hardy Museum. This evening Christmas Eve Dinner will be followed by another night of entertainment.

Wednesday 25th: A tour of the Yorkshire Dales takes us to visit the small market town of Kirby Lonsdale before we continue on via Ingleton to Skipton which is also a market town and which still retains its farming atmosphere. We return via Settle, one of the most picturesque towns in Ribblesdale with its narrow streets and views of the 300ft Castleburg Crag which dominates the town. This evening enjoy your traditional Christmas dinner with all the trimmings followed by hot mince pies and coffee to accompany the night’s entertainment.

Thursday 26th: After breakfast today, we travel to Keswick. For a small town, Keswick has a range of shops and services far larger than might be expected! We return via beautiful Ullswater for free time in Windermere. A 3-course dinner will be followed by bringing in the ‘New Year’ with great entertainment.

Friday 27th: A morning visit to Kendal with its castle ruins, quaint cobbled streets, antique shops and the chance to purchase the famous ‘Kendal MIntcake’. We leave Kendal early afternoon for our journey home.
