Steeped in history, legend and stunning scenery, savour the splendour of Lancashire whilst experiencing memorable journeys including a spectacular canal cruise and a haunted house.

Your Itinerary

Thursday 20th: We travel to Southport which has beautiful beaches, stunning
architecture, one of the oldest piers in the UK along with a superb choice of shops.

Friday 21st: We leave our hotel after breakfast and travel the short distance to Hoghton
Tower. Set in magnificent grounds, situated 650ft above sea level and approached by a
steep ¾ mile long drive, Hoghton Tower is a 16th century Elizabethan fortified manorhouse,
the only true baronial residence in Lancashire. Hoghton Tower has been part of
Lancashire’s landscape since 1565. This afternoon we enjoy a relaxing canal cruise on a
tranquil section of the Leeds Liverpool Canal passing through delightful countryside.

Saturday 22nd: We visit Lancaster, one of England’s heritage cities dominated by its
medieval castle and the River Lune that runs through the city. After time for lunch we travel
to Morecambe. Stroll along the award winning promenade, take in the sea air and admire
the coastal view towards the Lakeland Fells.

Sunday 23rd: This morning we visit Samlesbury Hall, a half-timbered black and white
medieval house built in 1325 as a family home and steeped in fascinating history.
Samlesbury Hall is renowned as one of the most haunted locations in Britain with resident
spirits including the legendary White Lady. This afternoon we visit the Chocolate House, a
well-established renowned local producer of hand-made chocolates, fudge and truffles with
a demonstration of the art of chocolate making and tastings.

Monday 24th: We leave our hotel after breakfast for a morning visit to Blackpool where
time will be given for lunch before we return home.
