Saturday 15th: We set off on our journey for the short sea crossing to Calais and our
overnight stay.
Sunday 16th: We depart after breakfast and make suitable stops en-route to the Hotel
Central-Residence for check-in.
Monday 17th: We will enjoy a day at leisure in Leysin. You may choose to relax at our
hotel, make use of the extensive leisure facilities or make your way to the Bernese Cable
Car, which takes you up to the summit of the mountain for perfect views of Geneva and
Mont Blanc on a clear day.
Tuesday 18th: Today we make our way to Vevey which holds its weekly market on
Tuesday. We can browse the stalls and enjoy lunch before embarking on a scenic paddle
steamer cruise from Vevey to the elegant town of Montreux, made famous by its yearly
jazz festival and its former famous resident, Freddie Mercury. After spending time here, we
make our way back to our hotel.
Wednesday 19th: This morning we board our coach for the journey across the Col de
Mosses through the scenic countryside to the village of Gruyéres. Here, we will discover
how Gruyére cheese is made with a demonstration at La Maison du Gruyére cheese dairy.
Afterwards, we will have time to spend in the village before we travel to Broc, home of the
Cailler-Nestlé chocolate factory. We will find out all about the chocolates made here, with
tastings of course!. After enjoying the chocolates, we begin our return journey back to our
hotel.
Thursday 20th: After breakfast, we head to Col du Pillon to embark on a cable car journey
to Scex Rouge, known as Glacier 3000, we have a stunning panorama of no fewer than 24
snow-capped 4000m giants including Eiger, Monch, Jungfrau, Matterhorn and even Mont
Blanc in the distance! We have time here to take in the magnificent views, enjoy lunch in
the panorama restaurant (not included) and for those feeling more adventurous why not
embark on a ride on the Snow Bus! After lunch we descend and board our coach for the
short journey to the chic mountain resort of Gstaad where we will have free time to browse
the upmarket boutiques and cafés. From here we board our beautiful Belle Epoque train
for the journey back down to Lake Geneva watching the afternoon sun descend over the
serene waters.
Friday 21st: Regrettably it is time to take our leave of the Hotel Central-Residence and
make our way to our overnight hotel.
Saturday 22nd: The final part of our journey as we make our way to Calais for the short
sea crossing to Dover from where we head for home
