Monday 19th: Depart from your home area travelling to Kent, arriving late afternoon at Mercure Brands Hatch Hotel. Tea/coffee and biscuits served on arrival.
Tuesday 20th: We begin with a ride to historic Faversham. Nestling between the rural gently sloping Downs and the austere North Kent marshes, Faversham is one of southern England’s most charming towns. It now has over 475 listed buildings and a good selection of independent shops. After lunch, we head for the coast where we visit Herne Bay, the place to be if you want to experience the classic seaside town! You may want to visit the Pier, walk along the promenade or perhaps explore the Herne Bay Museum to learn the vibrant history of the town.
Wednesday 21st: Today’s excursion takes us first via the picture postcard village of Chilham, with its many half-timbered houses and castle, often the location for TV programmes and films. Later, we continue to historic Canterbury. The City is dominated by the magnificent Cathedral, now a World Heritage Site, and the city centre, being very compact, is best explored on foot or by horse drawn carriage. This afternoon we return via Rochester to the hotel.
Thursday 22nd: This morning we visit the Spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells, passing Tonbridge en-route. with its elegant streets and Georgian buildings and the famous Pantiles, a colonnaded shopping area in the town centre. In the afternoon, we visit Scotney Castle, a country house, romantic garden, 14th century moated castle - all in a beautiful wooded estate. Discover the delights of the Victorian country mansion with its secrets and stories. Afterwards, we return back to the hotel, passing Wrotham Heath en-route.
Friday 23rd: After breakfast we leave and head for home.
