Your Itinerary
Monday 21st: We leave home early this morning and commence the drive to Scotland. Comfort and lunch stops will be made before arriving at our hotel. Tuesday 22nd: We begin our day with a short drive to Inverness where we can enjoy some time at leisure to explore before we drive along the shoreline of Loch Ness, brimming with history, and tales of the world’s shyest monster. We board a two-hour cruise at the Locks of Dochgarroch and onto the Loch itself. Wednesday 23rd: Take your seat on ‘one of the best railway journeys in the world’ according to Michael Palin. We travel through spectacular scenery from Dingwall to Kyle. On arrival our coach awaits to take us over the bridge to the Isle of Skye, an island full of mystery and history. Included is a light lunch at the Dunollie Hotel, Broadford. We return over the bridge, stopping at Eilean Donan Castle for photos, before crossing the Highlands from the west coast to the east coast. Thursday 24th: Today we trace the North Sea coastline on board the Northern Line train, passing fairy-tale Dunrobin Castle and the beautiful beaches around Brora. We will experience how remote Scotland can be, passing famous salmon rivers and miles of moorland before re-joining our coach at Thurso. We then visit Castle of Mey, The late Queen Mother’s Scottish residence before visiting nearby John O’Groats, the most northerly point on mainland Britain. We return to our hotel via what used to be the mighty fishing port of Wick.
