Sunday 18th: We leave home this morning and make our way towards the elegant Yorkshire spa town of Harrogate. After stopping for lunch, we continue to our hotel.
Monday 19th: Our first visit of the day is to Grassington in the beating heart of the Yorkshire Dales. The bustling cobbled market square set against a backdrop of the beautiful dales was used as the fictional market town of TV’s All Creatures Great & Small. We then move on to Skipton. We have time to browse the famous market and enjoy lunch before we embark on a delightful hour-long cruise along the beautiful Leeds to Liverpool canal.
Tuesday 20th: We begin our day with a visit to nearby Knaresborough, a town full of surprises. A warren of medieval cobbled streets weaves their way through the town. The centre is perched on the cliffs above the river Nidd, affording spectacular views across Nidd Gorge. We return this afternoon to Harrogate, with plenty of time to explore the town, browse the independent shops, visit the Pump Rooms Museum or lovely gardens.
Wednesday 21st: This morning we embark on a scenic drive, taking in the wonders of West Yorkshire’s most famous villages. Our first stop is pretty Hebden Bridge, here we have the chance to wander the bohemian streets, getting the feel of artists and writers who have lived here. We then travel to the picturesque village of Haworth against the stunning landscape of the Yorkshire moors, Haworth Parsonage was the home of the Brontë family from 1820 to 1861 and the place where Charlotte, Emily and Anne wrote their great novels. Now the Brontë Parsonage Museum, it houses the world’s largest collection of Brontë furniture, clothes and personal possessions and offers an inspirational and evocative experience for people of all ages.
Thursday 22nd: Departing our hotel after a leisurely breakfast, we begin our journey, taking a break for lunch before continuing on our way home.
