Sidmouth - Gem of South Devon

Hidden in plain view along the beautiful Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Sidmouth is a seaside town like no other. Your Itinerary

Saturday 12th: We leave home this morning, making our way to South Devon and the delightful seaside resort of Sidmouth.
Sunday 13th: Our first visit today is to nearby Exeter, a small city that packs a big punch, Exeter is one of the most vibrant, attractive and historically interesting cities in England.
We later make the short journey to Topsham, the quaint historic estuary port has a cosmopolitan atmosphere with an eclectic cluster of specialist shops and fine restaurants, plus wonderful views across the estuary. Once a thriving port and shipbuilding centre, Topsham still retains a strong maritime flavour.
Monday 14th: Enjoy a leisurely day in Sidmouth, stroll the promenade, browse the town centre or enjoy the beautiful gardens. There’s plenty to discover in this Regency town that has modern facilities and yet an elegant air of stepping back in time.
Tuesday 15th: This morning, we visit Powderham Castle. Over 600 years of history can be discovered within the walls of one of Devon’s oldest family homes. It has remained in the family to this day and recently became home to the new Earl & Countess of Devon, the 28th generation to move in. We then move on to nearby Exmouth with time for lunch before we board a circular cruise on the River Exe. Sailing on calm and sheltered waters, our skipper will provide us with live commentary on the area.
Wednesday 16th: We leave after breakfast and make our way through Devon and Somerset, travelling northwards. After stopping for lunch, we continue our journey, arriving home later this afternoon.
