Sunday 11th: We travel to Yorkshire and the market town of Skipton, often called the gateway to the Dales with its many shops, cobbled streets and alleyways, plus one of the most complete and well-preserved medieval castles in England. We then join our diesel train for the breath-taking journey on England’s most scenic railway line - the Settle to Carlisle, one of the last great railways to be built in the country. We travel through stunning countryside to Carlisle where we stay overnight at the Crown & Mitre.
Monday 12th: Our return journey home this morning gets under way with more beautiful scenery as we travel towards the wonderful Lake District. We follow the shore of Ullswater and head over Kirkstone Pass, descending to Lake Windermere, where we take a short break before continuing our journey home.
