Monday: We leave home this morning travelling to the south coast and our ferry crossing to the Isle of Wight.
Tuesday: This morning, we head to Godshill, one of the most photographed and prettiest villages on the Island. There are plenty of cafes, pubs, tearooms and shops dotted around the village. During our stop we visit the quintessential Model Village. Later we return to Shanklin for a free afternoon to explore the resort.
Wednesday: Today we board a cruise on the Solent. The route takes us through Cowes Harbour, world famous for yachting and into the Solent with fantastic views of the Island’s coastline, Osborne House and Norris Castle. We head east for the Portsmouth Naval Base, home of the Royal Navy, past and present. We enjoy close up views of the Royal Naval Fleet, whilst enjoying informative live commentary. Once back on the Isle of Wight we make our way to pretty Bembridge for an afternoon stop.
Thursday: This morning, we visit Cowes, best known as the world's premier yachting centre. From here we travel the short distance to Osborne House, Queen Victoria’s palace by the sea. Osborne was built as a family home and as you walk through the Queen’s bedroom, the nursery rooms and even royal bathrooms, you get an intimate glimpse into royal family life. There are acres of grounds and gardens to relax in and a delightful café.
Friday: Leaving after breakfast we make our way to the ferry for the return crossing and continue on homewards, arriving later this afternoon.
