Cantabria - Green Spain

Cantabria - Green Spain
Once again, we are delighted to offer this very popular tour. Fantastic beaches, historic towns & villages, rolling hills and lofty mountains, Cantabria offers it all. A gentle, predominantly rural, province offering plenty of activities in the mountains and traditional seaside resorts. Between the Atlantic Ocean and the ridge of the Picos de Europa Mountains, the scenery is almost Alpine, the climate, mild year-round.

Cantabria - Green Spain

Wednesday 15th: We leave home this morning travelling south to Plymouth for our crossing to Santander, arriving in Spain the following day. There’s plenty of time to relax, explore the ship’s many attractions and rest in a comfortable cabin with private facilities.
Thursday 16th: On arrival in Santander, we take the short drive to the Hotel Olimpo and settle in for our seven-night stay.
Friday 17th: The day is free to discover the lovely surroundings and nearby town.
Saturday 18th: Today we enjoy a full day excursion as we travel through the Hermida Gorge alongside rushing rivers to reach the town of Potes in the heart of the stunning Picos de Europa mountain range, often referred to as ‘Little Switzerland in Spain’. We make our way to Fuentes De, where we have time for a spectacular cable car ride that takes us to the magnificent heights of the mountains (cable car ticket not included).
Sunday 19th: This morning, we head to nearby Santander with white sandy beaches, elegant mansions and palatial architecture with avant-garde buildings and the unmistakeable echo of its seafaring past. Many cities within a city, perfect for discovering.
Monday 20th: We have a full day travelling along the Cantabrian coastline stopping at the beautiful and enchanting villages of San Vicente de la Barquera, Comillas and the World Heritage Site of Santillana del Mar with its medieval buildings and cobbled streets.
Tuesday 21st: A full day out today, we head to Castro Urdiales, a small and charming resort. The town centre, with its characteristic houses with wooden rows of balconies is medieval in origin. Castro Urdiales has all the charm of a small seafaring and fishing village with a rich tradition to discover.
Wednesday 22nd: Relax around the pool or stroll into town, enjoying your final full day in Spain.
Thursday 23rd: After a leisurely breakfast we say Adios to our hosts and head to Santander, perhaps enjoy some final tapas at lunchtime before we board our ferry and cruise back to Plymouth.
Friday 24th: We disembark the ship and travel home.
