Sunday 24th: We leave home this morning and head to Holyhead for the afternoon crossing to Dublin. On arrival we continue to the hotel.
Monday 25th: Today we head to Wicklow to visit Beyond the Trees and Avondale House. Beyond the Trees is a truly immersive and unique experience. A fully accessible 1.4km walkway through the treetops, rising over the canopy affording beautiful views of the Wicklow Mountains. Later we take a tour around the stunning Georgian, Avondale House. Home to Samuel Hayes, a keen naturalist who realised the beauty and importance of Ireland’s forests.
Tuesday 26th: Kilkenny is our destination today. Here you may wish to visit the 12th century Castle, wander the Medieval Mile, a discovery trail that runs through the city, browse the many arts, crafts, boutique shops and plenty of award-winning eateries. Before leaving we visit Smithwick’s Irish Ale, learning about the evolution of the Ale, a tasting will finish the day off nicely!
Wednesday 27th: We take a train ride along the banks of the River Suir with magnificent views of the river, Mount Congreve Gardens and into the Magic Wood. After the train ride we visit and tour Mount Congreve and Gardens, home to one of the world’s largest collection of plants. No matter which season, the gardens never disappoint.
Thursday 28th: Time to bid farewell to our hosts and make our way to Dublin for the afternoon crossing to Holyhead and the journey home.
