Sunday 12th: We leave home this morning and travel towards Northumberland and the town of Alnwick. We arrive at the hotel later this afternoon.
Monday 13th: Today we enjoy time in the town of Alnwick. We include a visit to the delightful Alnwick Garden, described by the Victorians as the ‘Windsor of the North’, you could also visit Alnwick Castle as an optional extra, and explore the traditional cobbled town centre.
Tuesday 14th: We journey through beautiful Northumberland National Park to the capital of Coquetdale, Rothbury. This was once a popular health resort where people came to take in the air and enjoy its riverside setting. From here we head to magnificent Cragside House. The former home of Lord and Lady Armstrong is now in the care of the National Trust, it was the first house to be lit by electricity, making it the original smart home. The house is fascinating, and the gardens spectacular.
Wednesday 15th: Today’s excursion takes us across the causeway to Holy Island and the mysterious Lindisfarne Castle – visible in the distance from Bamburgh. Later, we visit Bamburgh for free time. Maybe visit the majestic castle on the beach or the Grace Darling Museum.
PLEASE NOTE: The crossing of the causeway to Holy Island is governed by tide times. It may be necessary to amend this excursion.
Thursday 16th: Departing after breakfast we begin our journey, after taking a lunch break we continue, arriving home later in the day.

White Swan Hotel, Alnwick
Set in the heart of the historic market town of Alnwick, the White Swan is a charming, 300-year-old coaching inn. Bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms with hairdryer, TV and tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel does not have a lift.
