Majestic Mont Blanc & the Lakes of the Alps

Majestic Mont Blanc & the Lakes of the Alps
An enchanting escape to the French Alps, where snow-capped peaks, shimmering lakes,
and alpine elegance await. Discover the breathtaking beauty of the French Alps on this
memorable tour, where the majestic Mont Blanc massif meets the serene waters of Lakes
Annecy and Geneva. From glamorous alpine resorts to tranquil medieval towns, and from
mountain railways to lakeside cruises, each day offers a new and inspiring vista. With a
five-night stay in the elegant spa town of Saint-Gervais-les-Bains, you’ll have the perfect
base to explore this region of dramatic contrasts, natural wonders, and timeless charm.

Holiday Highlights

We begin our adventure with a ferry crossing from Dover to Calais, before continuing through
the French countryside to our comfortable overnight hotel. Our scenic journey continues south, passing
through beautiful alpine landscapes enroute to Saint-Gervais-les-Bains. This elegant spa town,
nestled in the shadow of Mont Blanc, will be our base for the next five nights.
On Monday, we visit the iconic resort of Chamonix, famed for its alpine elegance, chic
boutiques, and vibrant café culture. For an unforgettable experience, take the Aiguille du
Midi cable car to soar above the clouds for jawdropping views of Mont Blanc. Alternatively,
board the Montenvers rack-and-pinion railway to admire the impressive Mer de Glace glacier –
a true wonder of nature. A true highlight awaits on Tuesday with a visit
to Lake Annecy, often called the Venice of the Alps. This picturesque town enchants with its
flower-lined canals, cobbled streets, and stunning lakeside views. Here we embark on a
one-hour cruise enjoying the beautiful landscapes and mountains, cruising at the foot
of these magnificent peaks is a truly remarkable experience. Midweek we head to the sparkling waters of
Lake Geneva, beginning with a visit to the delightful medieval village of Yvoire, known for
its beautiful stone houses, floral displays, and charming boutiques. We enjoy a circular cruise
from the pretty harbour for views across the lake. Later we continue on to Évian-les-Bains,
the world-famous spa town and birthplace of the renowned mineral water, where elegant
architecture meets serene lakeside beauty. Thursday is free to spend as you please.
Unwind with breathtaking views of the Dôme de Miage and Mont Joly, or explore Saint-Gervais
at your own pace, perhaps browsing its weekly market. Just across the road from the hotel, you
can board the Mont Blanc Tramway, one of France’s oldest mountain railways, or take the
Ascenseur des Thermes, the scenic lift below the hotel, to access the renowned Mont Blanc
Thermal Spa – the perfect place to relax in healing waters and mountain serenity (subject
to opening times). We bid farewell to our hosts and the majestic mountains on Friday and begin our journey
north to our overnight hotel. The next day we return to Calais for the ferry
crossing to Dover, bringing home unforgettable memories of lakes, mountains, and alpine charm.
