Friday 17th: Depart from your local area and travel via Cambridge, well known for its university founded in 1209 and consistently ranking as one of the top five universities in the world. We continue to our hotel for checkin.
Saturday 18th: Behind the Scenes & Race day - Today we travel to nearby Newmarket Racecourse for a guided behind the scenes tour, including the weighing room and parade ring, plus hints & tips for how to make the most of your day at the races. After the tour, enjoy an afternoon of racing with a grandstand admission ticket, £2.00 bet & race card. Following the last race at 5:30pm, we return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Sunday 19th: Gallops & National Stud - After a full English breakfast, we depart for our tour, which begins at the gallops, the world-famous training grounds of Newmarket Heath where, daily, hundreds of top thoroughbred racehorses are put through their paces. Enjoy tea/coffee and biscuits at the National Stud before our 90 minute guided tour. The National Stud is a working thoroughbred stud farm where we will learn the history and purpose of the farm plus the opportunity to see some foals and yearlings as they are prepared for sales. This afternoon we will visit Bury St Edmunds with elegant Georgian squares and a glorious Cathedral.
Monday 20th: After breakfast for Ely the third smallest city in England. The city is very attractive and retains many of its historic buildings and winding shopping thoroughfares. Nestled in the fen countryside, this small city full of charm and beauty and is home to one of the most magnificent cathedrals in England. After our visit we begin our journey home.
