Friday 25th: We depart and make our way to Dover and the ferry to Calais. We continue our journey to Roeselare and the Mercure Hotel where we enjoy the next three nights with 3 course dinner, bed and breakfast.
Saturday 26th: This morning we head for Ypres today with a short walk around the town together with a visit to the excellent In Flanders Field Museum. This moving museum now makes use of the latest technology in its portrayal of the history of the Great War. You are then free at leisure to relax and enjoy the town. After lunch we continue to the Allied cemetery at Tyne Cot, the resting place of nearly 12,000 soldiers and the Memorial Museum at Passchendaele.
Sunday 27th: A full dayexcursion starting with the delights of Bruges “The Venice of the North”. There is a diverse range of attractions to enjoy today, from a cruise along the canal to a ride in a horse drawn carriage. Meander the cobbled streets and find the Chocolate Museum and the De Halve Maan family brewery in the city centre, as well as enjoying the many shops bars and cafes that make Bruges unique. After lunch we continue on to Ostend Belgium’s most popular seaside resort, Ostend has a very individual charm; characteristic sea front, marinas, parks, bustling markets, shops, fish and seafood stalls along the pier, a miniature railway, and horse-drawn carriage rides through the city.
Monday 28th: Sadly we must depart from our hotel after breakfast and make our way back to Calais and return ferry for an arrival home early evening.
