Tenby - A Town for All Seasons

Tenby - A Town for All Seasons

Tenby is one of the prettiest resorts in Wales, unspoilt by commercialism and retains its natural seaside charm, especially along narrow cobbled streets lined with shops, cafes and restaurants are also reminders of this bygone age.

Your Itinerary

Monday 9th: This morning we head south through Wales to our hosts at the Imperial Hotel in Tenby.

Tuesday 10th: Full day excursion along the coast travelling via Pendine with its 7 miles of golden sands for a short stop at the attractive Laugharne, the home of Dylan Thomas, the poet. We continue our journey to Carmarthen. Once Wales’ largest town before the industrial revolution, Welsh folklore says it was the birthplace of King Arthur’s mentor, the magician Merlin, the town’s Welsh name – Caerfyrddin- even translates as Merlin’s Fort. Steeped in tradition, Welsh language is still spoken in most of the region. Visitors delight in the ruins of the town’s Norman castle, which once dominated the area, other fine examples of architecture from the 18th and 19th centuries lie at the town’s centre below the castle,
examples of Georgian architecture can be found in Lammas Street in the form of coach inns and small local shops.

Wednesday 11th: Free day in Tenby to explore the quaint streets and 13th century medieval town walls or stroll around the picturesque harbour or just relax on the golden sands of this beautiful resort.

Thursday 12th: Full day excursion travelling along the coast to the ancient town of Pembroke. Dominated by its magnificent castle, Pembroke is both historical and charming with many shops and several fascinating museums. We continue to Haverfordwest, an attractive town with impressive castle ruins and then on to St. David’s, the smallest Cathedral city in Britain and a shrine to Wales’ patron saint.

Friday 13th: Sadly it’s time to leave the resort of Tenby and begin our journey homeward via Aberystwyth.
